James Kauffmann

Chairman and Founding Partner

Mr. Kauffmann has over 25 years of experience designing and managing low volatility, income-oriented investment strategies for high net worth and institutional clients. His unique and highly successful value approach to investing has led to his being a frequent commentator for several news organizations, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Credit Magazine, Financial Advisor, Pensions and Investments, and also a featured speaker at various industry conferences.

Prior to the formation of Bay Point, Mr. Kauffmann led the efforts of Citadel Asset Management, a $20 billion multi-strategy hedge fund based in New York City, to develop traditional fixed income strategies and products. In 1996, Mr. Kauffmann was selected by ING Investment Management to create and launch their flagship Core and Core Plus fixed income strategies. He developed the quantitative relative value framework used to identify value across the fixed income markets—a technique that has grown in popularity and is still in use today.

As Chief Investment Officer of ING Investment Management’s Fixed Income business, he was responsible for the growth of the institutional and mutual fund assets, which exceeded $70 billion at his departure in 2009. Kauffmann consistently achieved top fund rankings and in 2001, he won the Lipper Performance Achievement Award for managing the single best performing Intermediate Bond Fund in the U.S.

Prior to joining ING in 1996, he was a Vice President and senior portfolio manager at Alfa Investments Inc. He began his career in 1986 in the capital markets securities group of Drexel Burnham Lambert.

Jim received his B.S. in industrial management from Purdue University and an M.B.A from Harvard University.

 

Charles Andros

President and Chief Investment Officer

Mr. Andros was, most recently, the founder and Managing General Partner of AH, LLC, a boutique multi-strategy fund for high net worth individuals, fund of funds and family offices. Charles has over 10 years experience as senior strategist, portfolio manager and trader across a variety of investment funds. His market expertise covers equities, preferred stock, fixed income and real property. He has structured over a dozen successful private placement transactions for third party clients in the past five years; in each case he has exited at significantly higher multiples. 

Additionally, Charles has over 15 years experience as a senior trader for the proprietary trading firm ETG, LLC, which was later acquired by Ferris Trading Fund, a division of Schonfeld Trading Group. He began his career with IBM and then worked for an independent trader as an analyst at both the Board of Trade and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Charles holds a BBA in Economics from the University of Georgia.

 

Greg Jacobs, CFA®

Chief Financial Officer and Head of Credit

Mr. Jacobs has over 20 years of fixed income experience managing High Yield, Core, Core Plus and Absolute Return. Before co-founding Bay Point, Greg was Managing Director, Head of Absolute Return Strategies at TCP Global Investment Management. Previously, Greg was Head of Research and Strategy, Corporate Credit and High Yield at Seminole Financial serving as lead member of research and strategy development. Prior to Seminole, Greg was Vice President, Senior Portfolio Manager at ING Investment Management, where as a member of the corporate credit team, he managed all credit exposure and assisted in developing unique investment strategies. Greg also managed $4 billion in dedicated high yield assets for institutional and insurance clients. 

Previously, Greg worked as an investment analyst at Protective Asset Management Company and Equitable Investment Services.

Greg holds a BA in Economics from DePauw University, an MBA from the University of Illinois and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Bill Madson

Due Diligence & Operations

Bill supports the investment and asset management teams through analytics, modeling, due diligence, and research.  He began his career with Marcus and Millichap, a commercial real estate brokerage firm.  As a broker, Bill evolved towards a practice of selling non-core assets for institutional real estate owners.  In 2004, Bill accepted the position of Acquisitions Director for Highland Equity Group, a business dedicated to single-tenant net-leased arbitrage.  After the financial crisis, Bill formed his own commercial real estate brokerage focusing on representing buyers of highly distressed properties.  In 2011, seeing a unique value opportunity in commercial assets being sold by credit-oriented sellers, Bill formed a real estate private equity fund, Clifton Property Trust, LLC.  The fund acquired and successfully sold over 30 commercial properties.  Bill holds a BA from the undergraduate business school at UNC-Chapel Hill.

 

Mark DeAngelis

Compliance Director

Mark is a senior member of our compliance group and is an active participant on our firm’s Compliance Committee. In addition to serving as a Chief Compliance Officer to our clients, Mark works with a wide variety of clients to ensure their compliance program is implemented, maintained, and monitored.

Mark has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining CCS, Mark was a senior compliance manager with Capital One supporting their 401k Services and Digital Guidance & Advice programs. Mark also held multiple positions with Morgan Stanley including CCO for their Global Investment Solutions UIT series. During his career, Mark has served as a FINRA analyst in both the Advertising Regulation and Market Regulation divisions where he managed numerous regulatory investigations.

 

Chandler Rierson, CPA

Associate

Chandler supports the investment advisor through accounting, portfolio analytics, modeling, and research.  He was, most recently, an accounting manager at Trident Fund Services, a global fund administrator. Chandler has more than 7 years’ experience as an accountant, with the last 4 years focused on the private investment fund space. He began his career with Windham Brannon, a regional CPA firm based in Atlanta, GA. Chandler holds a B.S. in Accounting from Oglethorpe University.

 

Kelsey Ledford 

Administrative Director  

Kelsey is responsible for all office administration, IT management, and account support.  She is a marketing and operations specialist having gained valuable experience working with the University of Georgia Athletic Association to most recently, managing the licensing programs for the NCAA, College Football Playoff, and college athletic conferences. Kelsey started her professional career with a private family-wealth management firm with over $1 billion in assets under management. During her time at the firm, she specialized in client service support and operations. Most recently, Kelsey managed key accounts at WME/IMG under their collegiate licensing division where she helped spearhead the brand identity transition for the first ever playoff system in college football. Kelsey received a BBA in Marketing and a BS in Sport Management from the University of Georgia.
